Mid-Columbia Medical Center has been providing high-quality healthcare to people of the Mid-Columbia region for over half a century. The staff of nearly 1,000 employees and over 50 physicians, as well as more than 200 volunteers, work as a team to provide care that is respectful of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families.
Mid-Columbia Medical Center is one of only nine hospitals in the nation to receive the prestigious designation, “Designated Planetree Patient-Centered Hospital”. This honor was developed by Planetree, Inc. to distinguish those hospitals nationwide doing the most advanced work in patient-centered care. Planetree designation recognizes an institution’s achievement and innovation in fostering a culture that considers its priorities to be patient comfort, dignity, empowerment and well being.
The Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care is part of a pioneering effort to change the way patients experience hospitals – from being impersonal, intimidating institutions, to becoming nurturing, healing and educational environments. Patients are encouraged to become active participants in their own care.
The interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit has, for many years, been honored in the inpatient care provided at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. The Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care seeks to minimize the stress that hinders healing by creating a supportive, nurturing environment. Such an environment minimizes the anxiety usually associated with illness and hospitalization.
